Scottish Refugee Council has launched two new online resources offering practical information to help people seeking safety understand their rights when using interpreters and their rights in the workplace.
‘Your rights when using an interpreter’ explains what people can expect when using an interpreter, including:
• Clear and accurate communication
• Confidentiality and privacy
• The opportunity to express yourself fully and understand what is being discussed
• How to raise concerns or request a different interpreter
• When public services should provide an interpreter free of charge
‘What are my rights at work?’ provides information about important workplace rights, including:
• Getting the correct pay and receiving payslips
• Rest breaks and paid holidays
• Sick pay and working hours
• A safe working environment
• Protection from discrimination
Both resources offer practical information and links to further advice and support. They’re designed to help people feel more informed about their rights and know where to turn if they have concerns.
